Description

Delicious and soft Red Velvet Cookies coated in powdered sugar.


Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract and red food coloring until smooth.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir just until a soft dough forms.
  6. Cover the bowl and chill the dough for 20 to 30 minutes so it is easier to roll.
  7. Scoop the dough into small balls, then coat each one generously in powdered sugar.
  8. Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheets a few inches apart.
  9. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the tops are crackled and the edges are set.
  10. Let the cookies cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
