- 1 (32-ounce) bag of frozen tater tots
- 1 pound ground beef
- 8 strips bacon
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Cook the Tater Tots: Spread the frozen tater tots on a baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden and crispy. Stir once halfway through cooking.
- Cook the Bacon: While the tater tots are baking, cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels. Once cool, crumble into pieces.
- Brown the Ground Beef: In the same skillet with the bacon fat, add the ground beef. Cook over medium heat until browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a spatula. Season with salt and pepper, and drain excess fat.
- Assemble the Dish: Once the tater tots are done, remove from the oven. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the tots, then top with the cooked ground beef and crumbled bacon. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top and return to the oven. Bake for another 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Top with dollops of sour cream and sprinkle with chopped green onions if desired. Serve immediately.
