Description
Delicious pinwheels made with puff pastry, deli ham, and cheese, perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet pre-made puff pastry (thawed)
- 6–8 slices deli ham
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or a blend)
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional but recommended)
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
Instructions
- Thaw the pre-made puff pastry according to package instructions. On a lightly floured surface, gently roll it out into a rectangle approximately 12 by 9 inches.
- Evenly spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the entire surface of the rolled-out puff pastry to add a slight tangy base.
- Arrange the sliced deli ham in an even layer over the mustard. Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously on top to ensure every bite is cheesy and savory.
- Starting at one long edge, carefully roll the pastry into a tight log. Pinch the seam to seal the edges and prevent filling leakage during baking.
- With a sharp knife, slice the rolled log into approximately 1-inch thick discs to create the pinwheel spirals.
- Place the pinwheels on a parchment-lined baking tray. Brush each with the beaten egg wash for a shiny golden finish.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.
Notes
- These pinwheels can be served warm or at room temperature.
- Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese or add vegetables for extra flavor.
