- 1/2 tsp baking powder

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. This prevents sticking and ensures even baking.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mixing until glossy. Stir in the cocoa powder, flour, and baking powder. The batter should be thick and smooth, like classic brownie batter.
- In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter with both sugars until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract. Stir in the flour and baking soda, mixing until a dough forms. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Using a spoon or cookie scoop, take about a tablespoon of brownie batter and flatten it slightly in your hand. Take a tablespoon of cookie dough and press it gently on top. Lightly press the two together to form a half-and-half dough ball. Place on your baking sheet, leaving space between each brookie for spreading.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the cookie edges are golden and the brownie portion is just set. Do not overbake—brookies should remain soft in the center. Let them cool for 5 minutes on the tray before transferring to a wire rack.
