Description

This delicious crockpot BBQ chicken is made with simple ingredients and is perfect for a busy weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 chicken breasts (boneless and skinless, fresh or previously frozen)
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons onion flakes, (minced)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1½ cups barbecue sauce, (divided into ½ cup and 1 cup)
  • 12 ounces Coca-Cola, (divided into 1 cup and ½ cup)

Instructions

  1. Spread the chicken breasts in the bottom of a 6-quart crockpot.
  2. Sprinkle the pepper, minced onion flakes, and garlic salt over the chicken. Pour ½ cup of the barbecue sauce over the chicken.
  3. Pour 1 cup Coca-Cola into the slow cooker.
  4. Cover and set on a high setting for 4 hours or low for 6 to 7 hours.
  5. After the chicken has cooked for about 3 hours on high (or 5 hours on low), drain all liquid from the slow cooker, leaving the chicken in the pot. Add the remaining ½ cup of Coca-Cola and the remaining 1 cup of barbecue sauce to the slow cooker. Continue cooking for the remaining hour.
  6. Serve whole with sauce spooned over the top or shred chicken and mix with the excess sauce.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh chicken breasts.
  • This recipe can be easily doubled for larger gatherings.
  • Leftover chicken can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
