Enjoy your Skillet Biscuits and Sausage Gravy!
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 pre-made biscuits or homemade biscuit dough
- 1 pound ground pork sausage
- 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 2 cups Milk
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- Parsley (optional) for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Oven and Skillet: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Heat a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage, breaking it up with a spatula, and cook until browned.
- Make the Gravy: Once the sausage is cooked, reduce the heat to low. Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir until the flour is absorbed. Gradually stir in the milk, continuously stirring to avoid lumps. Increase the heat to medium and bring to a simmer. Add butter and stir until melted. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook the gravy for about 2-3 minutes, until thickened.
- Assemble in the Skillet: Remove the skillet from heat. Place the biscuits over the sausage gravy.
- Bake: Optional: Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the biscuits and gravy. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until biscuits are golden and cooked through.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven. Garnish with parsley if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
- For fluffier biscuits, consider making homemade biscuit dough.
- Add more milk if the gravy becomes too thick.
- Adjust seasonings to taste, especially the pepper for a little kick.
- Use a non-cast iron skillet if necessary, just ensure it is oven-safe.
