Description
Delicious and festive Holiday Donut Tower Dessert that is perfect for celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 30 store-bought or homemade plain donuts
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 4 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Red, green, and white sprinkles
- 1 edible gold star topper (optional but recommended for aesthetic)
Instructions
- Make the Glaze: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth and glossy. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk (for a thinner glaze) or more powdered sugar (for a thicker glaze).
- Prepare the Donuts: Arrange a cooling rack over a baking sheet to catch any excess glaze. Dip the top of each donut into the glaze, allowing the excess to drip off back into the bowl. While the glaze is still wet, sprinkle red, green, and white sprinkles generously over the donuts. Let the donuts sit on the cooling rack until the glaze is set.
- Assemble the Donut Tower: On a large serving platter, start by creating a base layer with about 12 donuts in a circular formation. Build layers upward, reducing the number of donuts per layer to form a pyramid shape. You’ll need to stack the remaining layers in this order: 9, 6, 3. Finish with a single donut at the top. Carefully place an edible gold star on the top donut to complete the festive look.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider using flavored donuts such as chocolate, cinnamon, or apple cider.
- Ensure the donuts are cool before glazing to prevent the glaze from running off.
- For extra stability, use a dab of glaze as “glue” between each layer.
- Be creative with the decorations by adding mini marshmallows or holiday-themed candies.
