Delicious marbled butter bars topped with creamy frosting and sprinkles
Ingredients

- 1 cup Salted Butter (Softened)
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 2 large Large Eggs (Room temperature)
- 1 teaspoon Almond Extract
- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1 bottle Red/Green Food Coloring (For marbling)
- 1/2 cup Vegetable Shortening or Unsalted Butter
- 4 cups Confectioner’s Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 3 tablespoons Milk (Add gradually)
- 1 cup Sprinkles (Jimmies or nonpareils)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl until smooth and fluffy.
- Gradually add the large eggs, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the almond extract.
- In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and baking soda, then gradually add this to the wet mixture.
- Divide the dough into two bowls, adding red food coloring to one and green to the other.
- Spoon alternating dollops of each color into the prepared baking pan, gently pressing to flatten.
- Bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool completely before frosting.
- Beat together the vegetable shortening (or butter) and confectioner’s sugar, mixing in vanilla and milk until creamy.
- Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled bars and sprinkle with jimmies or nonpareils. Chill for 30-40 minutes.
