- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 cup chocolate ganache
- 2 cups vanilla custard
- 1 cup whipped cream
- For garnish dark chocolate shavings
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
Instructions
- Prepare the Chocolate Ganache:
- Heat 1 cup of heavy cream until it simmers.
- Pour over 1 cup of chopped dark chocolate. Let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth. Allow to cool.
- Make the Vanilla Custard:
- In a saucepan, combine 2 cups of milk, 1/4 cup of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of cornstarch.
- Stir constantly over medium heat until thickened.
- Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and let cool.
- Assemble the Trifle:
- In a large trifle dish, layer half of the crumbled chocolate cake.
- Spread a layer of vanilla custard over the cake.
- Add a layer of sliced strawberries.
- Drizzle a generous layer of chocolate ganache.
- Repeat the layers until the ingredients are used, reserving some strawberries and ganache for the top.
- Top the Trifle:
- Pipe or spoon the remaining whipped cream over the top.
- Arrange the reserved strawberries on top.
- Drizzle with leftover chocolate ganache.
- Sprinkle dark chocolate shavings for garnish.
Notes
- Allow the trifle to set in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving for best flavor and presentation.
- If the ganache is too thick to drizzle, gently warm it until it reaches the desired consistency.
- Substitute vanilla custard with mascarpone cheese for a richer taste.
- Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor and garnish with mint leaves for a fresh, vibrant touch.
