Description

Delicious and visually stunning candy apples with a marbled effect, perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium-sized green apples
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • White food coloring
  • Gel food coloring (blue, green)
  • Wooden sticks or twigs for decoration

Instructions

  1. Wash and thoroughly dry the apples to remove any wax coating. Insert a wooden stick or twig into the top of each apple.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves. Attach a candy thermometer and continue to cook without stirring until the mixture reaches 302°F (hard crack stage).
  3. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract and a few drops of white food coloring to the hot candy mixture. Divide the mixture into separate bowls if desired, or use one for a simpler process. Add different gel food coloring to each bowl and swirl gently with a toothpick to create a marbled effect.
  4. Working quickly, dip each apple into the candy mixture, twisting to cover completely. Allow excess to drip off before placing them on a parchment-lined baking sheet to harden. If using one bowl, drag the apple through different colors to achieve the marble look.
  5. Let the coated apples sit at room temperature until the candy hardens completely.

Notes

  • Ensure apples are completely dry before coating to prevent the candy from sliding off.
  • Use a candy thermometer for accuracy; the temperature must be precise for a proper candy coating.
  • If the mixture begins to harden while coating, gently reheat the mixture over low heat until it liquefies again.
  • Experiment with different color combinations for vibrant effects.
